Support a Child

2023-2024

Pr. Falak

4.10 YEARS

Falak, a lively 4.10-year-old girl, had been healthy until recently, except for frequent colds and coughs. Two months ago, she developed a history of typhoid and was admitted to Kasturba Hospital for a week. Shortly after, she was readmitted to the same hospital with pneumonia. The doctors recommended an urgent echocardiogram and referred Falak to the Child Heart Foundation (CHF).

On July 20, 2024, Falak’s family visited CHF, where she received a free echocardiogram. Dr. Kohli reviewed the results and informed them that Falak was diagnosed with a subaortic membrane and mild aortic insufficiency. The condition required an urgent resection procedure. The cost of the treatment was approximately 3.5 lakhs, which was beyond the family’s financial means.

Given their financial constraints, Falak was registered under the Hridaan Program at CHF to receive the necessary financial assistance.

Considering the urgency of the situation, Falak was admitted within a week of the initial consultation. She underwent the resection procedure successfully on July 27, 2024, and was discharged on July 31, 2024.

Currently, Falak is thriving and has attended follow-up appointments twice since the surgery. She is steadily improving day by day. Her parents are profoundly grateful to Dr. Kohli, CHF, and the generous donors whose support made this life-saving treatment possible.

They are relieved and thankful to see their daughter’s health restored, celebrating the new lease on life that Falak has received.
