Meet Asad, a brave 3.7-year-old boy from a small village in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. As the youngest of six siblings, Asad brings joy to his family, but their situation is challenging. His father, the sole breadwinner, works tirelessly as a tailor, earning just ₹15,000 a month. Supporting eight dependents on such a modest income has made life a constant struggle.
Asad's health journey began just hours after his birth in a government hospital when doctors noticed his rapid breathing and bluish lips. An urgent diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD) was made, and an echo at one month old confirmed the diagnosis: Tetralogy of Fallot, a serious heart condition requiring immediate surgery.
Desperate for help, Asad's parents turned to Satya Sai Hospital, but despite their best efforts, they faced a long wait of over three years for an admission date. With each passing day, their situation grew more desperate, and they feared for their son’s health.
On June 28, 2024, Asad's family learned about the Child Heart Foundation (CHF)through the UPRBSK Team. With hope renewed, they reached out for assistance and received a free echo screening, which confirmed the diagnosis of Tetralogy of Fallot once again. The recommended surgery, TOF Repair, was estimated to cost approximately ₹3.75 lakhs—an amount that was far beyond their means.
Despite the burden, Asad’s father worked tirelessly, but the family's meagre income was barely enough to cover their daily expenses. The cost of Asad’s surgery weighed heavily on their shoulders, making it seem almost impossible to proceed.
However, hope was on the horizon. On July 3, 2024, Asad was admitted for his critical TOF repair surgery, a turning point in his health journey. The surgery was successfully performed on August 5, 2024, and Asad's recovery began. His family rejoiced as their son took a significant step toward a healthier life.
Today, Asad’s family is profoundly grateful to the CHF team and the generous donors whose support made this life-changing journey possible. They now dream of a future where Asad can grow up healthy, play freely, and pursue his education without the burdens of heart disease.
