Support a Child

2023-2024

Pt. Abhiraj

A Hopeful Heartbeat for a Little Fighter

Abhiraj's journey was kick-started in a cloud of ambiguity, at just 28 days old. He was born to a young family residing in Samastipur, Bihar, but he is now living in Sultanpuri, Delhi. He had several serious heart conditions such as Tricuspid Atresia and Large Atrial Septal Defect. This led to a right-to-left shunt and various complications that needed immediate remedial actions. The estimated cost for POA stenting was Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

His father was a painter and could not afford the life-saving treatment, which made them feel worthless. This was a family of three. The family had no source of income with them. The child was referred from Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Delhi, and therefore this family came for assistance to Child Heart Foundation.

Critical support came by way of CSR partner IRFC (Indian Railway Finance Corporation) through CHF's Hridaan Program, and that was the support which helped Abhiraj in gaining the all-important financial assistance required before the surgery. So much so that on July 3, 2024, he was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Jasola, where the procedure was successfully completed.

It has been two days since Abhiraj was kept under close surveillance, and now he is healthy enough to be discharged on July 5, 2024. He is very good today, and his family is bursting with gratitude for CHF and IRFC in helping them turn despair into hope. Now, with Abhiraj's heart treated, they can look toward a bright future together, cherishing each moment of their precious little boy.
