Little Baby of Puja was left to face a tough battle when she was just seven days old. Born to an eight-member family in Anand Parbat, Central Delhi, the baby suffered from critical congenital heart defects, including Pulmonary Atresia and Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). Though the conditions meant immediate intervention in the form of a PDA stenting procedure that would cost the family Rs 2.5 lakhs-an amount deemed unachievable.
Gauri Shankar, her father, and her mother were terrified. There was absolutely no money for them. They were dangling in helplessness without any financial support from anywhere. The baby did have a history of heart disease so the stakes were high. Both of them referred by Lady Hardinge Medical College and Lok Nayak Hospital, they knocked on the doors of Child Heart Foundation.
The much-needed financial aid for surgery was made possible by the Hridaan Program of CHF, courtesy of its CSR partner, IRFC - Indian Railway Finance Corporation. Puja was admitted on 11 July 2024 to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Jasola.
A successful PDA stenting was carried out and just a few days later, Puja was discharged on July 15, 2024. She's on the road to recovery now, with her family back home yet again with hope and gratitude in their hearts. Little Puja now has a better shot of a healthy future thanks to the help of Child Heart Foundation and IRFC, and each smile and coo brings joy to her family.
