Rimpa Shil

A Brave Heart’s Journey

Rimpa Shil hails from a small village in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. Coming from a family of four members, her existence had always been battle-stricken, mainly due to her poor health. Diagnosed with a moderate Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defect that would require Mitral Valve repair along with VSD closure, Rimpa's condition needed urgent medical attention. The entire procedure was expected to cost around Rs. 3.75 lakhs.

His father, Janak Shil is a barber but with his being the main breadwinner of the family. However he never had any savings sufficient to meet the expenditure of the medical treatment. Being on the verge of medical neglect, the parents were at their wits' end. It was through a friend and the Siliguri OPD Patient, that they kept coming to the Child Heart Foundation (CHF) for support.

With the Hridaan Program from CHF, and under the gracious support of their CSR partner, IRFC (Indian Railway Finance Corporation), comes the much-needed aid that Rimpa's family has long sought for. She was admitted on August 2, 2024, in Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Jasola.

It was August 3 when Rimpa underwent her surgery; she had a very successful procedure. She was subsequently discharged on August 7, 2024. As of today, Rimpa is on the road to recovery. This family has been well blessed in these trying times due to the kindled support from CHF and IRFC. With a healthier heart, Rimpa is ready to embrace life with joy and hope and bring out such miracles in the lives of her family and those who surround her.
