Anayat is a 2year old little girl from Uttarakhand who has a story of resilience, courage, and triumph. Right after three days of birth she was diagnosed with jaundice and was hospitalised for 7 days. In the mean-time she got rashes in her body, difficulty in breathing while feeding and weight loss for which the doctor suspected CHD (Congenital Heart Defect) and advised for echocardiography. However, there was no clarity in the result and the case was transferred to Satya Sai hospital where they confirmed it was CHD. But after 6 months of follow up in the same hospital, they discontinued the treatment. Upon discontinuing, Mr. Jalraj Mehta, one of the doctors, recommended the parents to visit CHF and meet Dr. Vikas Kohli for better consultation and treatment. Another Echocardiography was carried out which revealed that the child got Truncus Arteriosis type 1 with large VSD, mild MR and TR which can be repaired through surgery. This was the beginning of her life journey. For her family, it was a time of fear and uncertainty, but it was also a time of faith and determination to fight for their little girl.
In the same week of the diagnosis, she got admitted to Indraprastha Apollo hospital in New Delhi where the surgery will be conducted under the care of Dr. Kohli. The surgery was a successful one and it was a sign of relief for the entire family. On her discharge, it was recommended for Anayat to have routine follow ups with the doctor.
However, the journey was far from over. In one of her routines follow up, she was diagnosed with RV-PA and had to undergone another surgery. It was also a success and once again, her tiny heart was repaired and her family’s hopes were renewed. Since 2022, Anayat’s family is connected with CHF and with every treatment and follow ups she is gradually improving and is on the verge of living life fully. Her story is a testament that even the smallest hearts can overcome the biggest challenges.
