Support a Child

2024-2025

Kamlesh’s baby is by all accounts a miracle child

Less than two months old, the baby is Hariom and Kamlesh’s second born—their first tragically passed away due to neurological problems ten years ago. After a long and arduous journey of trying to conceive again, Kamlesh successfully underwent IVF treatment and gave birth to a baby boy on January 10, 2025.

Miracles and misfortune, however, often go hand in hand. Just a day after he was born, Kamlesh’s son experienced trouble breathing. He was rushed to the hospital, and an echocardiogram test was ordered. The parents were subsequently referred to AIIMS Delhi. They were met with no response there. They then got transferred to Apollo Hospital. The cost of treatment was astronomical—almost half their household monthly income. Hariom and Kamlesh were at the end of their rope when they had a chance encounter with pediatric cardiologist Dr. Vikas Kohli at Apollo. Dr. Kohli urged the family to register with the Child Heart Foundation (CHF). With CHF’s assistance, Kamlesh’s baby was diagnosed with Pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect and underwent a patent ductus arteriosus stent procedure, a minimally invasive treatment for newborns with severe heart conditions. The procedure was an unqualified success, and the baby is on the road to recovery.

For Hariom and Kamlesh, it is the end of a decade-long period of loss and hardship and the start of a new chapter. Against all odds, their baby boy came into the world and fought to survive. He is on his way to a long and prosperous life. We wish him and his family the very best for a bright future ahead!
