Born as the first child of her parents, Baby Rajeshwari brought immense joy to her family in Wazirpur, Ashok Vihar, Delhi. However, at just four months old, her health began to decline. She cried excessively for days, leaving her worried parents searching for answers. Seeking medical help, they took her to Babu Jagjeevan Ram Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia.
After a week of treatment, they returned for a follow-up, only to receive unexpected news—the doctor suspected a congenital heart defect (CHD) and referred them to the Child Heart Foundation (CHF) for further evaluation. On January 24, 2025, Rajeshwari’s parents consulted Dr. Vikas Kohli at Balakram Hospital, a CHF center. A detailed echocardiogram confirmed the diagnosis: Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a heart defect requiring immediate intervention.
The solution was clear—a PDA Device Closure procedure. But the cost of ₹2 lakhs was far beyond the family’s means. With her father working as a helper in a cooler shop, earning ₹12,500 per month, providing for a family of six was already challenging. The burden of medical expenses seemed insurmountable.
Thankfully, hope arrived in the form of the CHF Hridaan Program, with CSR support of Mankind which stepped in to provide financial assistance, ensuring Rajeshwari’s life-saving procedure was not delayed. On February 12, 2025, she was admitted for surgery under Dr. Kohli’s expert care. In just a day ,the procedure was successfully completed and
she was stable enough to be discharged.
By February 14, 2025, Rajeshwari was back home, her heart stronger than ever. The tears of fear her parents once shed were now tears of gratitude. Without the Child Heart Foundation and the Hridaan program, this life-changing treatment would have remained out of reach.
Baby Rajeshwari’s journey is a testament to the power of community support, expert medical care, and unwavering parental love. Today, she is on the path to a bright, healthy future—a living example of how acts of kindness can heal even the smallest hearts.
