At just 1 year, 7 months, and 3 days old, little Sanskriti from Madanpur Khadar Extension, South Delhi, had already faced more health struggles than most endure in a lifetime. Born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), her tiny heart struggled to function properly, leaving her breathless, sweating excessively, and turning blue (cyanosis) due to a lack of oxygen in her blood.
Her parents first sensed something was wrong when, soon after birth, Sanskriti developed jaundice and severe respiratory distress, requiring a 20-day stay in the NICU. Later, at Escort Fortis Hospital in Okhla, doctors diagnosed her with a complex congenital heart defect (CHD)—a combination of heart abnormalities that required surgical intervention to save her life.
Despite their love and determination, the cost of the Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) repair surgery was far beyond the family’s means. But Sanskriti’s parents refused to give up. Their hope was answered when the Child Heart Foundation (CHF), with the support of ABC Foundation, stepped in to ensure she received the care she desperately needed.
On January 31, 2025, Sanskriti was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital (IAH) under the expert care of Dr. Vikas Kohli, a renowned pediatric cardiologist. Her life-saving Tetralogy of Fallot repair surgery was successfully performed .
After six days of post-operative care and recovery, Sanskriti was discharged, her heart now working stronger than ever. The days of struggling to breathe, sweating excessively, and turning blue were now behind her.
Today, Sanskriti is a vibrant, playful child, full of life and energy something her parents once feared would never be possible. They are overwhelmed with gratitude to CHF and ABC Foundation, whose kindness and generosity gave their daughter a second chance at life.
Sanskriti’s journey will inspire countless others, reminding us all that every child deserves a healthy heart and a future full of possibilities.
