Born on 9th July 2025, Rachna’s baby entered the world already battling for life. During pregnancy, a fetal echocardiogram had revealed a congenital heart defect (CHD). Doctors suspected Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA)—a critical condition where the two main arteries of the heart are reversed, severely affecting oxygen supply to the body.
Shortly after birth, the baby turned bluish, showing severe cyanosis—an alarming sign that confirmed the seriousness of the condition. An echocardiogram performed the very next day verified the diagnosis of TGA.
Recognizing the urgency, doctors at Atlas Hospital, Palwal immediately referred the baby to Marengo Asia Hospital, Faridabad for emergency treatment. The only life-saving solution was a complex procedure known as the Arterial Switch Operation (ASO)—a surgery that must be performed within the first few weeks of life.
But there was one major challenge.
The cost of the surgery—around ₹4 lakhs—was far beyond the family’s reach. The baby’s father, a clerk and the sole earning member, was unable to arrange such a large amount in such a short time. The family felt helpless, with time running out.
Hope Arrived at the Right Time
At this critical moment, a doctor at Marengo Hospital guided the family to the Child Heart Foundation (CHF). After a quick evaluation and documentation process, the baby was enrolled under the Jeevansh Program, which supports newborns requiring urgent heart surgeries.
With the generous support of Mankind Pharma and the coordination of CHF, the baby was admitted without delay.
On 15th July 2025, the little warrior underwent a successful Arterial Switch Operation.
The days that followed were critical. The baby remained under intensive care, fighting each moment with incredible strength. After 20 days of close monitoring and recovery, the baby was finally declared stable and discharged in good condition.
Today, Rachna’s baby is thriving—turning a once terrifying diagnosis into a story of courage, survival, and hope.
Her journey stands as a powerful reminder that timely intervention, compassionate support, and the will to fight can save even the most fragile lives.
