Four-year-old Anika was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart defect that affected the normal flow of blood through her heart. Her condition caused severe breathlessness, constant fatigue, and bluish discoloration of her lips and fingers.
For Anika, even simple childhood activities became difficult. Running, playing, and enjoying everyday moments often left her tired and struggling to breathe.
A Family Searching for Life-Saving Heart Treatment
As Anika’s condition worsened, her parents knew she needed specialized pediatric cardiac treatment. However, coming from a financially disadvantaged family, the cost of heart surgery was beyond their means.
They were facing an overwhelming situation—their daughter urgently needed treatment, but they could not afford the specialized care that could save her life.
That was when Child Heart Foundation (CHF) stepped forward to support Anika and her family.
Timely Support for Anika’s Heart Surgery
Following a detailed medical evaluation, Anika was advised to undergo open-heart surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot.
With support from Child Heart Foundation and the CSR support of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), Anika received the life-saving cardiac treatment she needed.
Her surgery was successful.
Today, Anika is stable, active, and recovering well. The little girl who once struggled with breathlessness and exhaustion can now look forward to a healthier and more active childhood.
