From Years of Struggle to a Healthier Future
Nyra’s journey with a heart condition began when she was just six months old.
Her parents noticed that their little daughter was experiencing severe breathing difficulties and excessive sweating. Frightened and unsure of what was happening, they sought medical help and later learned that Nyra had a congenital heart defect (CHD).
The diagnosis was overwhelming for the family. With limited financial resources and delays in receiving appropriate medical guidance, they were unable to continue with the specialized cardiac treatment Nyra needed.
As time passed, Nyra remained vulnerable to health complications, including frequent episodes of pneumonia.
A Medical Camp Became a Turning Point
Years later, hope returned when Nyra was identified during a Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) school medical camp.
The RBSK team guided her family to Child Heart Foundation (CHF) for further evaluation and support.
For a family that had spent years worrying about their daughter’s health, this referral opened a new path toward the treatment they had been unable to access earlier.
A Life-Saving TOF Repair for Nyra
Following medical evaluation, Nyra was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and advised to undergo corrective heart surgery.
With the CSR support of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the financial cost of Nyra’s treatment was supported, providing immense relief to her family.
On 22 December 2025, Nyra successfully underwent a life-saving Tetralogy of Fallot repair surgery.
After years of uncertainty, her family could finally look toward the future with renewed hope.
A New Chapter for Nyra
Today, Nyra is recovering well and looking forward to a healthier childhood.
For her parents, seeing their daughter regain her strength after years of health challenges has brought immense happiness and relief.
Nyra’s journey highlights the importance of early detection, appropriate referral, continued follow-up, and access to pediatric cardiac care for children living with congenital heart defects.
It also demonstrates how community and school health initiatives can help connect children from underserved families with the specialized treatment they need.
