During a prenatal ultrasound, doctors noticed signs that suggested a possible congenital heart defect. After his birth, further medical evaluation confirmed that Azim had a heart abnormality that required specialized pediatric cardiac care and surgery.
For his parents, what should have been a joyful beginning quickly became a period filled with worry and uncertainty.
Azim’s father, a driver from Meerut, had limited financial resources. The family was deeply concerned about how they would afford the specialized heart treatment their child needed.
A Family Searching for Specialized Cardiac Care
With limited access to advanced pediatric cardiac facilities locally, Azim’s family was advised to travel to Delhi for further medical evaluation and treatment.
For a family already facing financial difficulties, travelling to another city and arranging specialized cardiac care added to their emotional and financial burden.
But their journey took a hopeful turn when the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) Meerut team connected the family with Child Heart Foundation (CHF).
A Referral That Opened the Door to Treatment
Following the RBSK referral, Child Heart Foundation helped Azim’s family navigate the next steps of his cardiac treatment.
Medical evaluation confirmed the need for surgical correction, and Azim was prepared for a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) Patch Closure.
With the CSR support of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the financial cost of Azim’s treatment was sponsored, removing one of the biggest barriers facing his family.
Successful VSD Patch Closure Surgery
On 1 January 2026, Azim successfully underwent VSD Patch Closure surgery at Marengo Asia Hospital.
For his parents, the successful procedure marked a new beginning after months of uncertainty that had started even before their baby was born.
Today, Azim is stable, doing well, and moving toward a healthier future.
From Early Detection to Life-Saving Treatment
Azim’s journey demonstrates the importance of early detection, timely referral, and access to specialized pediatric cardiac care.
The suspicion of a heart defect during pregnancy helped begin the process of identifying his cardiac needs. The RBSK Meerut referral then helped connect his family with Child Heart Foundation and the treatment support they needed.
His family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Child Heart Foundation and Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) for helping make their child’s life-saving treatment possible.
For Azim, this journey meant more than repairing a heart defect.
It meant finding the right care at the right time.
It meant removing the financial barrier to treatment.
It meant giving his parents hope for his future.
And it meant giving a little heart the opportunity to grow stronger every day.
Child Heart Foundation works to help underprivileged children with congenital heart defects access timely diagnosis, specialized pediatric cardiac care, life-saving treatment, and continued follow-up support.
