Uvesh’s Heart Surgery Journey

Uvesh’s Heart Surgery Journey

After Years of Struggle, Hope Finally Arrived

Uvesh’s struggle with his heart condition began when he was just one year old.

He experienced severe cyanosis, breathlessness, and frequent episodes of pneumonia. His family repeatedly sought medical help, hoping to understand why their young child continued to suffer.

Initially, Uvesh was treated locally for his symptoms. Despite years of medication, his health problems continued, and his family was left without clear answers.

As Uvesh grew older, so did his health challenges.

A Diagnosis After Years of Uncertainty

When Uvesh was around seven years old, advanced medical evaluation in Muzaffarnagar finally identified an underlying congenital heart defect.

The diagnosis gave his family an answer, but finding the right treatment became another difficult journey.

They visited multiple hospitals searching for specialized pediatric cardiac care. With every delay, the family became more worried about Uvesh’s health and increasingly uncertain about how they would afford the treatment he needed.

His father worked as a daily wage labourer, making the cost of specialized heart treatment far beyond the family’s financial capacity.

A Referral That Changed Uvesh’s Journey

Hope finally arrived when the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team guided Uvesh’s family to Child Heart Foundation (CHF).

After years of searching, the family finally found a pathway toward the specialized cardiac care their child needed.

Following medical evaluation, Uvesh was advised to undergo a Bidirectional Glenn (BD Glenn) procedure, an important surgical intervention used for certain complex congenital heart defects.

With support from Child Heart Foundation and the CSR support of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the financial burden of Uvesh’s treatment was supported.

Life-Saving BD Glenn Surgery

On 6 January 2026, Uvesh successfully underwent BD Glenn surgery at Marengo Asia Hospital.

For his family, the successful procedure brought immense relief after years of uncertainty, repeated hospital visits, and concern about their son’s future.

It was an important milestone in a journey that had begun when Uvesh was only one year old.

A New Chapter for Uvesh

Uvesh’s story highlights why children experiencing persistent symptoms such as cyanosis, unexplained breathlessness, and recurring respiratory problems may need appropriate medical evaluation to rule out an underlying heart condition.

His journey also demonstrates the importance of timely referral and access to specialized pediatric cardiac care for children from financially disadvantaged families.

From years without clear answers to finally receiving the cardiac intervention he needed, Uvesh and his family have travelled a long road.

For Uvesh, receiving the right treatment meant more than undergoing heart surgery.

It meant finally finding answers after years of uncertainty.
It meant accessing treatment his family could not afford alone.
It meant giving his parents renewed hope.
And it meant taking an important step toward a healthier future.

Child Heart Foundation works to help underprivileged children with congenital heart defects access timely diagnosis, specialized pediatric cardiac care, life-saving treatment, and continued follow-up support.
