Nakshay’s Heart Treatment Journey
A Decade of Waiting, A Future Full of Hope
Nakshay’s journey with a heart condition began when he was just one year old.
What initially appeared to be a severe case of pneumonia led doctors to discover an underlying congenital heart defect (CHD). Following medical evaluation, his family was informed that he would need specialized cardiac treatment in the future and that surgery would be considered when he was older.
For the next ten years, Nakshay’s family lived with constant concern for their son’s health.
As he grew, so did the challenges caused by his heart condition.
A Childhood Marked by Uncertainty
Over the years, Nakshay began experiencing increasing symptoms, including severe fatigue, breathlessness, and cyanosis, a bluish discoloration caused by reduced oxygen levels in the blood.
His parents watched anxiously as everyday activities became more difficult for him.
While they knew their son would eventually need advanced cardiac treatment, the financial burden seemed impossible to overcome.
Nakshay’s father worked as a labourer, and the cost of specialized pediatric cardiac care was far beyond the family’s means.
A Referral That Changed Everything
Hope arrived when the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team identified Nakshay’s need for further support and referred the family to Child Heart Foundation (CHF).
The referral became a turning point in their journey.
Child Heart Foundation guided the family through the treatment process and helped connect them with the specialized care Nakshay required.
With the CSR support of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the financial cost of treatment was sponsored, removing a major obstacle that had prevented the family from pursuing the care their son needed.
Life-Saving Cardiac Intervention
Following detailed medical evaluation, Nakshay was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, for advanced cardiac treatment.
There, he successfully underwent a life-saving cardiac intervention, marking a major milestone in a journey that had begun a decade earlier.
For his parents, it was the moment they had waited for since his diagnosis as a young child.
After years of uncertainty, they could finally look toward the future with renewed hope.
A Healthier Future Ahead
Today, Nakshay is recovering well and moving toward a healthier future.
His story highlights the importance of long-term follow-up, timely referral, and access to specialized cardiac care for children living with congenital heart defects.
It also demonstrates how collaborative efforts between community health programs, healthcare providers, and charitable support can help children receive life-saving treatment regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
