Ramya Nagar’s Heart Treatment Journey: A Successful ASD Device Closure and a New Beginning

At just 1 year and 4 months old, Ramya Nagar from Gautam Buddha Nagar has already faced significant medical challenges.

Ramya was initially receiving medical care for a head hemangioma. During a follow-up on 18 March 2026, an echocardiogram unexpectedly revealed an underlying heart condition.

Further cardiac evaluation confirmed that Ramya had a congenital heart defect (CHD).

An Unexpected Diagnosis

An echocardiogram performed at GIMS, Kasana, confirmed an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), an opening between the upper chambers of the heart.

Because Ramya required specialized pediatric cardiac care, she was referred to Child Heart Foundation (CHF) through the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) by Dr. M. P. Singh.

The referral became an important turning point for Ramya and her family, connecting them with the support needed to move forward with her cardiac treatment.

Financial Challenges

Ramya’s father, Saurav, runs a small construction business, while her mother is a homemaker.

With six dependents and an annual family income of approximately ₹3.6 lakh, arranging specialized cardiac treatment was a significant financial challenge.

The family was able to contribute ₹50,000 toward Ramya’s treatment but needed additional financial assistance to ensure that their little daughter could receive the recommended cardiac procedure.

Child Heart Foundation and NTPC Step In

Following medical evaluation, Ramya was advised to undergo an ASD Device Closure.

With support from Child Heart Foundation and NTPC Limited, Ramya was able to access the specialized pediatric cardiac care she needed.

On 11 July 2026, Ramya successfully underwent ASD Device Closure at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.

The successful procedure marked an important milestone for Ramya and brought immense relief to her family.

A Healthier Heart and Renewed Hope

Following her cardiac treatment, Ramya is progressing well and has a positive outlook for a healthier and more active childhood.

With her heart treatment successfully completed, her family can now focus on the next stage of her medical care, including further treatment for her hemangioma.

Ramya’s journey highlights how timely diagnosis, appropriate referral, financial assistance, and access to specialized pediatric cardiac care can make a life-changing difference for a child with a congenital heart defect.

Her family is deeply grateful to Child Heart Foundation, NTPC Limited, RBSK, and the medical team for helping their daughter receive the treatment she needed.

For Ramya, successful ASD treatment meant much more than a medical procedure.

It meant a healthier little heart.
It meant overcoming a major medical challenge at a very young age.
It meant renewed hope for her parents.
And it meant another step toward the healthy childhood her family dreams of for her.

Child Heart Foundation works to help underprivileged children with congenital heart defects access timely diagnosis, specialized pediatric cardiac care, life-saving treatment, and continued follow-up support.
