Lakshit’s Heart Surgery Journey: From a 10-Day-Old Heart Warrior to a Healthier Future
Lakshit’s fight for a healthier heart began just days after he was born.
Born on 9 October 2025 in West Delhi, Lakshit initially brought immense joy to his family. But within days of his birth, his parents noticed worrying signs. He experienced breathlessness and excessive sweating while feeding, making even feeding difficult for the newborn.
Concerned about their baby’s health, the family took Lakshit to Mata Gujri Hospital for medical evaluation.
Further assessment confirmed that Lakshit had Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart defect that required specialized pediatric cardiac care.
For his family, the diagnosis was frightening. Their newborn baby needed cardiac intervention almost immediately.
A Life-Saving Intervention at Just 10 Days Old
Lakshit was referred to Child Heart Foundation (CHF), where his condition was further evaluated and a treatment plan was developed.
Because of his young age and cardiac condition, Lakshit required an initial intervention to help stabilize him before definitive corrective surgery could be performed.
On 19 October 2025, at just 10 days old, Lakshit underwent Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT) stenting under the care of Dr. Vikas Kohli.
The procedure was successful.
After medical observation and recovery, Lakshit was stable enough to be discharged on 21 October 2025.
For his parents, taking their tiny baby home after the first successful cardiac intervention brought immense relief—but they knew another important stage of treatment still lay ahead.
Growing Stronger for His Second Heart Surgery
The RVOT stenting was an important first step in Lakshit’s treatment journey, helping him reach the stage when definitive repair of his heart defect could be performed.
Over the following months, Lakshit remained under medical follow-up as his family waited for the next major milestone.
When the time was right, he was prepared for the second stage of his cardiac treatment.
Complete Tetralogy of Fallot Repair
On 15 June 2026, Lakshit underwent a complete Tetralogy of Fallot repair at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
The surgery successfully completed the planned second stage of his treatment journey.
From undergoing RVOT stenting as a 10-day-old newborn to receiving complete TOF repair months later, Lakshit had already faced two significant cardiac procedures very early in life.
For his family, the successful completion of both stages brought renewed hope for their little boy’s future.
