At just seven months old, Aarav Rohilla from Delhi had already begun facing challenges caused by a congenital heart defect.
Born to Neha Rathore on 22 November 2025, Aarav had a history of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). As he grew, his family noticed that he was not gaining weight as expected and was having difficulty feeding.
For a small baby, feeding and healthy weight gain are important parts of development. Aarav’s symptoms indicated that his heart needed further medical evaluation.
A VSD Diagnosis
Aarav’s family took him to Swami Dayanand Hospital, where doctors performed an echocardiogram.
The evaluation confirmed that Aarav had a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)—an opening between the lower chambers of the heart.
Following the diagnosis, Aarav was referred to Child Heart Foundation (CHF) for further evaluation and a specialized treatment plan.
The referral gave his family a pathway toward the cardiac care their little boy needed.
Financial Challenges
Aarav’s father works as support staff at a company, and arranging the cost of specialized pediatric cardiac treatment presented a significant financial challenge for the family.
They wanted to provide their baby with the required treatment, but the financial burden of heart surgery was difficult to manage on their own.
With support from ABB India Foundation and guidance from Child Heart Foundation, Aarav was able to access the specialized cardiac treatment he needed.
Successful VSD Surgical Closure
On 31 July 2026, Aarav underwent VSD surgical closure at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
The procedure successfully addressed his heart defect and marked an important milestone in his treatment journey.
For his parents, seeing their seven-month-old baby successfully complete heart surgery brought immense relief and hope.
The timely intervention also gave Aarav an opportunity to move forward with improved growth and development under appropriate medical follow-up.
A Healthier Beginning for Aarav
Following his surgery, Aarav is reported to be doing well.
His journey—from difficulty feeding and poor weight gain to diagnosis, referral, and successful VSD closure—highlights the importance of recognizing possible warning signs of congenital heart defects in infants.
It also demonstrates how timely referral, specialized pediatric cardiac care, and financial assistance can help families overcome barriers to treatment.
