Yuvraj Thakur’s heart journey began when he was only two months old.
After an episode of fever, his concerned family took him for medical evaluation. An echocardiogram at a local hospital revealed a serious congenital heart defect (CHD), and doctors advised the family to seek specialized pediatric cardiac care.
For Yuvraj’s parents, the diagnosis came as a shock. Their little baby needed specialized treatment, but finding and affording the right care soon became a major challenge.
A Family Struggling to Find Treatment
Determined to help their child, Yuvraj’s parents travelled to a higher medical centre and consulted doctors at Satya Sai Hospital.
There, they were informed that Yuvraj’s heart condition was complex and difficult to treat.
The family continued searching for answers and sought another medical opinion. However, the high cost of specialized cardiac treatment, combined with their limited financial resources, made it impossible for them to continue his care at that time.
They knew their child had a serious heart condition, but they did not have a clear way forward.

At the camp, the CHF medical team reassessed Yuvraj’s condition, listened carefully to his family’s concerns, and reviewed his treatment journey.
Most importantly, the family learned that there was still a pathway to specialized cardiac care.
After nearly two years of fear and uncertainty, the medical camp gave Yuvraj’s parents something they desperately needed—hope and direction.
From Medical Camp to Specialized Heart Care
Child Heart Foundation guided Yuvraj’s family toward further cardiac evaluation and helped them navigate the next steps in his treatment.
With medical guidance and treatment coordination from Child Heart Foundation, along with financial support from NTPC Limited, Yuvraj was finally able to access the specialized cardiac treatment his family had struggled to arrange.
He subsequently underwent open-heart surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
For his parents, seeing their child finally receive the treatment he had needed since infancy marked the end of a long period of uncertainty and the beginning of a new chapter.
Recovery and Renewed Hope
Following his surgery, Yuvraj is reported to be recovering well.
His journey—from being diagnosed at just two months old, living with symptoms for nearly two years, and finally reaching treatment through a CHF medical camp—shows why community-level screening and referral initiatives can be so important.
