For Garvit Jain’s parents, the joy of welcoming their baby was soon followed by fear and uncertainty.
Born in Agra through a Caesarean section, Garvit began showing concerning symptoms shortly after birth. He experienced shortness of breath, bluish discoloration of his lips and nails, and vomiting during breastfeeding.
Although his condition temporarily stabilized and he was discharged, the symptoms did not completely go away.
His parents knew something was not right with their little baby.
An Echocardiogram Revealed Tetralogy of Fallot
During a routine follow-up, doctors suspected that Garvit’s symptoms could be related to an underlying congenital heart defect and advised an echocardiogram.
The evaluation confirmed that Garvit had Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart defect requiring specialized pediatric cardiac care.
Because of the complexity of his condition, the family was advised to travel to Delhi for further treatment.
For Garvit’s parents, the diagnosis brought answers—but it also began a difficult search for affordable specialized care.
Finding Hope at Child Heart Foundation
Through an acquaintance working in Delhi, Garvit’s parents learned about Child Heart Foundation (CHF).
With hope for their child’s treatment, the family approached CHF, where Garvit was thoroughly evaluated by Dr. Kohli.
Following his assessment, a comprehensive treatment plan was prepared.
But there was a major challenge.
Garvit’s surgery was estimated to cost more than ₹3 lakh. For a family dependent on a single earning member, arranging such a large amount was beyond their financial capacity.

After completing the required documentation, Garvit was enrolled under the HRIDAAN® Program of Child Heart Foundation, helping his family navigate the journey toward specialized cardiac treatment.
His surgery could not be performed immediately.
For nearly a year, Garvit continued receiving medical care at Balak Ram Hospital, where he remained on prescribed medication and attended regular follow-up evaluations while the medical team monitored his condition.
His parents continued waiting for the day when their little boy would be medically ready for definitive surgery.
Throughout this period, Child Heart Foundation continued to guide and support the family through Garvit’s treatment journey.
Successful TOF Repair
The long wait finally led to an important milestone.
In June 2026, at the age of one year, Garvit underwent Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) repair at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
His treatment was financially supported by GAIL Gas Limited, helping ensure that the cost of specialized cardiac surgery did not stand between Garvit and the treatment he needed.
The surgery was successfully completed.
Following the procedure, Garvit recovered well and was discharged in stable condition.
For his parents, seeing their little boy return home after successful heart surgery brought immense relief after a journey that had begun shortly after his birth.
A Healthier Beginning for Garvit
Garvit’s journey—from experiencing breathlessness and cyanosis as a baby to undergoing successful TOF repair—highlights the importance of timely diagnosis, continued medical follow-up, and access to specialized pediatric cardiac care.
